Help Sponsor Pathways to Power
Date: September 10, 2008
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
South Carolina ranks 50th in the nation in the number of women who hold public office. While women represent more than 55% of the electorate, just 8.5% of all elected offices are held by women. Public policy will only change when the people who create policy effectively represent the full interests of the State.
The Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics, South Carolina League of Women Voters and The Alliance for Women have combined forces to host a reception honoring all women who hold or are running for public office in South Carolina. On behalf of this coalition of organizations, we invite you to become one of our sponsors.
More than 300 people from across the state will attend the event on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Columbia at the First Citizens Building. This is an exception opportunity for organizations to show their support of women's participation in public policy. We invite you to consider joining our presenting sponsors in supporting the event.
This is a non-partisan event celebrating and drawing attention to the brave women who have stepped forward and committed to making a difference in South Carolina. The South Carolina League of Women Voters servers as the public forum branch of the coalition while The Alliance for Women conducts research and maintains databases of women interested in appointive position and the SC Institute encourages women to become politically active and trains them in effective participation. We do not endorse any political party or candidate but encourage women to become involved in all areas of public debate. It's what's right for women and right for South Carolina.
Venue: First Citizens Plaza and Lobby
