Earl Capps is well-known in South Carolina political circles for his blogsite, The Blogland of Earl Capps, where he discusses current events in South Carolina politics, as well as workforce and economic development, rock music, his academic work, and religious subjects.
He earns his living outside of politics, overseeing Corporate Communication, Human Resources and Occupational Safety for U.S. Group, Inc., a construction general contractor. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Communication from the College of Charleston, where he is an adjunct professor in the Department of Communication, as well as Chair of his alumni council. He has also been a guest lecturer at several colleges in the Carolinas, speaking on topics related to new media, political communication and communication ethics. He has received a number of awards for his research on a number of topics in the field of Communication.
Earl resides in Summerville, South Carolina, where serves in a number of local academic, community, professional, and political organizations, as well as at his church. He is single with children. In his spare time he enjoys reading, travel, music, and has been known to sleep once in a while.
