2011 Leading Women Dinner - On April 1, 2011, the Institute honored the first female Governor of South Carolina, Nikki R. Haley, and the first female African-American elected to the SC House of Representatives from the tri-county Charleston area, Lucille Simmons Whipper. 2010 Pathways to Power Reception - The second bi-annual reception celebrating elected women and women running for office in 2010. The Pathways to Power Reception honors women who have stepped forward to lead in South Carolina along with everyone who supports the prospect of increasing women's seats at the decision-making table.
