Here are Mrs. Nanney's answers to some questions posed by the Institute.
Has political office been a life long goal/dream of yours?
I grew up in a very politically active family and have always viewed politics as service. I have always tried to find ways to serve my community and this seemed like a natural progression.
Has there been a woman who you have admired in the political world and what is it about her that gives you courage to run the race?
Margaret Thatcher is someone I have always admired. She has always appeared to have such grace under pressure.
Why you - why now for this position you are running for?
My district seemed ready for a change in leadership and after finishing my term as Chairman of the Greenville County Republican Party, it seem like the natural next step.
My mother always said...
When you face a problem, don't waste time trying to fault someone, assess the facts and find a solution.
What is your leadership style?
My leadership style is based on problem-solving. I like to cut straight through to the root problem, get input from others and come up with a direct solution.
