Jeanelle McCain - Progress Energy

Jeanelle McCain is Director of Public Affairs in South Carolina for Progress Energy. Progress Energy (formerly Carolina Power & Light) is a Fortune 250 Energy Company servicing over 2 million customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. As Director of Public Affairs, Jeanelle lobbies the South Carolina General Assembly, Public Service Commission and other state agencies on all issues of interest to the energy industry. She has been with Progress Energy since 1996, beginning as Director of Corporate Affairs in Raleigh, North Carolina. She opened up the first South Carolina Public Affairs office for Progress Energy in late 1996. Prior to working for Progress Energy, Jeanelle was an associate with Zebulon D. Alley, PA, a lobbying firm in Raleigh. She also worked with the American Petroleum Institute.

Jeanelle graduated from University North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1987 with a B.A. in English and from Wake Forest University Law School in 1990. She was licensed to practice law in North Carolina in 1990. She serves on the boards of the Miss South Carolina Pageant Scholarship Foundation, the South Carolina Cancer Center, and the Palmetto Center for Women. Jeanelle is married to Will McCain and they live in Columbia. They enjoy spending time at Lake Murray and playing golf.
